Paul Merser is the be-hatted wielder of sticks at the back of the GD stage.
He's a drummer.... isn't it obvious?
Paul took over the GD rhythmic / percussive duties in April 2007. A graduate of the London School of Music, he has toured the world with orchestras, west end shows, various artistes and even managed to play Panto with Ruth Madoc.
A bit. The man likes to ROCK, which is a welcome addition to the GD sound. He's also a dab hand at playing songs like 'The sun will come out tomorrow' and various other very NOT ROCK tunes.
A strange mix indeed. Alongside proper bands like Guns'n'Roses, My Chemical Romance, Velvet Revolver, Led Zep, James Brown, Aerosmith, Lost Prophets etc., Paul also sneaks people like Beverley Craven, Phil Collins and Kenny G onto his ipod (OK the Kenny G thing was a lie, but you believed it didn't you?) Must be a drummer thing...
Paul would love to play a gig at the Sydney Opera House and own a VW camper van. Blood samples have been sent out and we expect to find out whether he's a secret Aussie in the next few days...
Paul Merson, Paul Merton, Mrs Merton, Miss Marple, The River Mersey, Jersey, A time-share chateux in Bergundy.
Paul was born and raised in Hatfield, the middle of 3 brothers, and now resides in St. Albans.
He's an active member of Christ Church London where he plays in the Worship band. Moments before he was told about the vacancy in GD, God had given a prophesy to Paul about using his giftings in a new music. This confirms to the band that Paul is appointed by God to help us further along this road, and use the skills we have to serve him.
Paul endorses Roland electronic drums.
